Barmouth Yacht Club, or to give it its correct name the Merioneth Yacht Club (named after the old Welsh county of Merionethshire), is located on the harbour side in Barmouth. Being on the edge of Snowdonia National Park and looking across the Mawddach estuary the clubhouse has some of the finest views in Wales. The mainly southerly winds provide excellent sailing conditions in Cardigan Bay and the Club has an enthusiastic sailing membership and runs a full programme of sailing events.| The well-equipped clubhouse and training room make Merioneth Yacht Club one of the most popular sailing venues in the country. The Club House bar provides what is described as one of the most beautiful views in Wales , where the mountains come down to the sea, with the added pleasure of a cool beer or glass of wine to enjoy it by. |There are monthly social events , a very strong racing program and an enthusiastic Celtic Longboat rowing section. Junior sailing is thriving with training sessions throughout the summer. |The rowing section of the Meirioneth Yacht Club (the Mawddach Rowing club), is going from strength to strength. We have a growing number of committed and enthusiastic members, and both of our celtic longboats (“Merlyn y Môr” and “Draig y Fawddach”) are rowed out of Barmouth harbour whenever tide and weather conditions permit.|The club runs RYA theory courses in the winter months and has a power boat section which runs practical power boat and personal watercraft courses in the summer months.
