Welcome to Tafarn John Y Gwas, which translates as The Tavern of John the Servant, John having been a previous landlord. This traditional and friendly village pub is situated in the village of Drefach Felindre amidst delightful Welsh countryside. The area has numerous streams and forests providing much to see and do for walkers and nature lovers. Nearby is the bustling market town of Newcastle Emlyn. We are approximately 15 miles south of the coastal/tourist town of Cardigan and approximately 15 miles north of the county town of Carmarthen. The village of Drefach Felindre is situated within the Teifi Valley, through which runs the River Teifi, renowned for its fishing. In the Pub there are two bar areas. A cosy 'snug' bar with seating for 16 and a feature fireplace. This area is ideal for a relaxed informal meal and a quiet chat. The larger 'public' bar has a pool table, TV (only used for sporting events) and further seating. This is a lively and entertaining bar, frequented by visitors and locals alike. You will never be wanting for varied and colourful conversation! There is a separate 16 seater restaurant for more formal dinning. At the rear is a dedicated smoking shelter, a bear garden which is currently under development and our car park. A varied selection of Real Ales are always available and we can be found in the Good Beer Guide which reflects the quality of ales offered. Home cooked food is available all day from our varied menu and specials board. Only locally sourced ingredients are used. Children and pets are welcome.
