Holy Island Holyhead Anglesey Wales
Holyhead Mountain, 722 ft (220m), is located on the
north west of Holy Island, which itself sits to the north west of
Anglesey North Wales. It lies about three kilometres west of the town of
Holyhead. On the east side of the hill is a Roman watchtower, called
Caer y Tŵr. On the lower western slopes can be found the remains of Iron
Age hut circles known as the Cytau'r Gwyddelod, or Irish Huts. A walk
to the top of Holyhead Mountain will be rewarded with fine views of
Holyhead harbour; across the Irish sea to the Irish mainland; and
equally fine views to Snowdonia in the south.
