Rhyl Marine Lake is a 12.6ha man-made reservoir that is situated at the western end of Rhyl (Denbighshire) near the mouth of the Clwyd estuary. It was officially opened in 1895 and was designed to meet the recreational needs of the local community. It is now managed by Denbighshire County Council and is used for a range of water sports and recreational activities including water skiing and sailing. The lake is lined/sealed with puddle clay and has an average water depth of 1.25m, although its depth varies both spatially and temporally. The lake is connected to the sea via a single sluce gate that is located at its north-western corner.
