Colwyn Bay Promenade Colwyn Bay Conwy_County Wales
The North Wales Cycle Path stretches along the coast
from Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey to the City of Chester in England.
Cycle on quiet lanes through Anglesey with fine views across the Menai
Strait to Snowdonia. Once on the mainland the route follows the North
Wales coast passing through the seaside towns of Penmaenmawr, Llandudno,
Penrhyn Bay, Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay, and Prestatyn to Connah's Quay
before following an old railway line and canal towpath into the heart of
Chester.

The section in Colwyn Bay is traffic free, a three
mile flat section from Rhos Point to Penmaenhead in Old Colwyn. Many
more sections of the route are traffic free and it is ideal for short
day rides with the family. Indeed you can ride from Conwy to Rhyl via
Rhos-on-Sea and Colwyn Bay on a traffic free route for almost all the
way (except for a short section in Llandudno is on the public roads).

If taking the full North Wales Route it would be wise to cycle from west
to east to make the most of the prevailing winds. Note: Take care when
crossing the A55 dual carriageway over the headland between Penmaenmawr
and Llanfairfechan. And another word of warning if you are hooked on
cycling. Be careful that the anglers at the Old Colwyn end of Colwyn Bay
Promenade don't hook you while casting out from the beach railings
adjacent to the cycle path!
