Avondale Glass, Craft Centres Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire - Wales where to go, what to see and where to stay in Wales

Carmarthen Road Kilgetty Pembrokeshire Wales
A visit to Avondale Glass in Kilgetty is a unique experience. Admission is free and you will enjoy a fascinating demonstration, with a step-by-step commentary, of craftsmen displaying every aspect of this highly skilled and traditional craft. All the pieces you see being made are offered for sale, including collector's favourites such as vases, paperweights, elephants, swans, rabbits, squirrels, dolphins, ducks, fruit, and many more. The business was established in 1976 by Vicenzo Speranza, who worked in the great glass houses of Italy from the age of 10 as well as in Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden and Malta, before settling in the UK at Wedgwood Glass (now Caithness) and finally setting up his own glass making workshop here in Kilgetty. The unique Italian craftsmanship has been practised by our master craftsmen for the past 50 years and has been handed down to son and grandson to continue the fine quality of handcrafted items that we produce. Only the finest ingredients are used, the colours being imported from Germany and the basic materials from various suppliers in the U.K.
