The Rectory Montgomery Powys Wales
St. Nicholas’ is in the old County Town of Montgomeryshire. The Town has a basic Georgian feel about it. The Church is Norman, built in 1226. The grand tomb of George Herbert’s parents is to be seen here. There is a double Rood Screen & carved angels from the 13th Century mounted on this. The gate through is Elizabethan. There are some spectacular mid 19th century stained glass windows. The nave ceilings still show their original forms. There are a range of concerts held here during the year. The Town is only small and there are a number of places to stay.
