Whitmore Bay is located near Barry Island, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Whitmore Bay is the main beach on Barry Island it is a huge crescent of soft golden sand, ideal for sunbathing or sandcastle building. It has been popular with tourists since the late 19th Century and in the summer months the place buzzes with street theatre and live music. There are horse carriage rides operated along the beach, as well as seafront shops. The excellent (2007)water quality makes the beach popular with swimmers and paddlers. There is plenty of car parking space situated only a few hundred yards from the beach, and short term parking is available behind the promenade gardens. Whitmore Bay is easily accessible by car. Take junciton 33 from the M4, follow tourist signs. Regular bus and train services from Cardiff Central Station.Facilities include shops and cafes, toilets. with disabled access, a promenade, lost child and first aid services available.
