Oriel Mostyn, an Art Gallery in Llandudno, was established in 1979. It is known both nationally and internationally, and is able to attract exhibitions of the highest standard. The Gallery is a leading gallery for contemporary art in North Wales, offering access to the visual arts both for the immediate community and for the region as a whole. Oriel Mostyn Gallery’s craft shop stocks a wide range of jewellery, ceramics, glassware and other handmade crafts. They also have magazines and books on contemporary art, design, craft, and photography. The Llandudno Art Gallery, the Oriel Mostyn, is centrally located in Llandudno being next door to the main Post Office and 200 metres from Llandudno railway station.Behind an impressive 1901 terra cota façade in the strikingly beautiful seaside town of Llandudno is Wales’ leading gallery of contemporary art – MOSTYN. Topped with a landmark gold spire, in 2010 it completed an expansion in which old and new buidlings are integrated in a stunning design by architect Dominic Williams. In its five galleries MOSTYN shows varied and exciting exhibitions which showcase the best contemporary art being produced in Wales and bring to Wales some of the most interesting art being made internationally. Mostyn does not have a collection but displays a wide range of exhibitions which change every two months or so, and vary from large-scale shows to small projects and video projections.
