Carmarthen is the county town of Carmarthenshire in South Wales. It sits on the banks of the River Tywi some six miles, 10km, from the estuary of the Three Rivers at Carmarthen Bay. | The town of Carmarthen is renowned for its eclectic mix of shops, pubs and of course its famous market. Sadly the market has been moved from its traditional location, and some locals complain about its lack of character in its new position.
But given time and with Welsh produce from Swansea to Cardigan Bay, cheeses from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, local organic foods, farmhouse salt bacon, sausages, delicious cockles from the south wales beaches and the renowned laver bread, the new market might soon be as great a shopping place as before.
