Great holiday, lovely location. House had lots of good points, though a little tired. Will stay again in North Wales but may try somewhere else, if only for a change, especially something a little bigger.

A quirky but charming, cosy cottage in a great location for enjoying the Snowdonia National Park. The owners and caretaker clearly work hard to look after the cottage and to provide all that is needed for visitors. My stay was in winter and comments reflect visiting during shorter days that were sometimes quite grey. As others have commented, by its nature the cottage is a little dark and whilst the owners have clearly done their best to add lighting it was still quite difficult to find a place where it was possible to sit and read in the evening or on a gloomy wet day. The sitting room has a cosy feel and an open fire but unless the door is left open, causing a draught, smoke gets into the room. Thoughtfully an effective electric heater is also provided. The modern bathroom with a decent shower is downstairs off the kitchen and some may find this inconvenient during the night. The kitchen is very well equipped, the dishwasher being especially welcome and I thought is was a good sign of the attention to detail of the owners to find a sufficient supply of dishwasher tablets on hand. The cottage is situated on a minor road that can at times carry some fast moving traffic and I was initially worried about parking outside, but actually had no problems during the week I stayed. Overall, I enjoyed my stay in a beautiful part of Wales. I appreciated the owners and caretaker's welcome and efforts to help guests make the most of their stay. It is clear that they have responded positively to feedback about previous issues doing their best to improve the guest experience. I'll remember the welcome bottle of wine, starter pack of wood for the fire, and personal touches throughout. Thanks.

Good holiday, in spite of the rain. Cottage was comfortable and very well equipped. Flowers and bottles of wine on arrival were much appreciated. The open fire in the living room made the room warm and cosy. The only complaint was the dim lighting in the living room and dining room. Even with the 3 lights on in the living room, it was difficult to read a newspaper and virtually impossible to read maps, when trying to plan the next day's walks. Brighter lighting in the living room would have justified an overall rating of 10.

Lovely quaint cottage very clean comfortable although a little dark. Outdoor steps to garden are quite steep but lovely would recommend this

Lovely quiet cottage, good kitchen, shower really needs a door and extractor. Logs when you arrive in cottage should be free, just put the price up a couple of pounds to cover this, would make the owner look generous rather than tight. Even though there is a comment in the guest book from the owner about logs, nowhere in the welcome folder does it mention this at all. Would have liked internet but choice of DVDs and CDs made up for this. All very quirky but value for money the time we went. Would be very cold in winter as no instructions for the economy 5 heating, either too hot or too cold.

A unique and cosy cottage in a great location. We had a fantastic week here and would happily return. Loved the owners taste in furnishings and lots of helpful recommendations.

My fiancé and I stayed here as a bit of a get away before I start a new job that involves being away from home a lot. Firstly I must say, the location, the area and the cottage itself are stunning, we loved waking up in the morning to the beautiful views surrounding the cottage. It is also lovely seeing all the old antiques in the property, although this may not be to all taste I think it adds to the lovely character of the cottage. Even the witch above the TV that "likes to wander out of its frame" It is also worth noting the bathroom is just off the kitchen downstairs, but it is a lovely bathroom, that with the towel warmer on heats up lovely, and the shower itself was wonderful. We didn't experience the problems others had with the shower. Pressure was great and the windows opened up to remove steam. The owner seems like a decent bloke too. We had a quick conversation before the holiday, whereby he gave some lovely pointers. (Definitely try out the butchers in the next village) He did warn us it was cold in this area, but we didn't expect it to be as a cold as it was inside the cottage itself. And that is my reason for a low comfort score. Although the fire took the bite out of the living room (we used a lot of fire wood etc)(we did replace this and also leave even more than what was provided for the next holiday makers) The temperature in the cottage was just so cold, we went to bed wearing jumpers for the first night before we ended up going out and buying blankets to keep ourselves warm!! I would heavily suggest to holidayers to take blankets or wear thick pyjamas. I would also heavily suggest to the owner to change the radiators from storage to convecter heaters. It's not good enough having a small amount of warmth in the very late evening. (We didn't really feel any heat from these at any time) The only other gripe, though a known downside to us, is the water heaters was the lack of consistent hot water. It was either boiling, at which point it made the body of the tap red hot, or it went freezing cold before you could fill the sink up to do the washing up. Equipment in the house is adequate, and again makes for a lovely stay. We enjoyed using the kitchen and watching dvds at night. Overall although a lovely cottage in a stunning location, for the pure fact that my fiancé and I were so cold we would not stay here again. (We do expect it would be fine during summer) This is a great cottage for couples who wish to explore the north of Wales, and it has so much potential to be amazing year round. We would recommend to people staying around here to explore the long drive past caernarfon and bangor, down the coast to conwy and then back on the mountain roads to the cottage. Stunning views and a wonderful drive.
