Cockermouth
Cockermouth is one of the most popular towns in Cumbria, England. It sits on the confluence of the rivers Cocker and Derwent and is mere minutes away from the Lake District National Park. With close proximity to Loweswater, Buttermere, Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake, Cockermouth is the perfect place to stay for visitors exploring the Lakes. However, the town has its own attractions to keep tourists satisfied.
William Wordsworth was born at Wordsworth House in Cockermouth, and the property now commemorates the life and works of the poet. Despite heavy flooding in 2009, the museum has thankfully survived, along with many of the original artefacts. It is open from March to October.....
