Bosherston can be found on the southern tip of Pembrokeshire, South West Wales. It is popular with visitors to the area because of its beach, Broad Haven South. The beach is particularly popular with families and is ideal for surfing and swimming. Just behind the beach are the Bosherston Pools, a group of beautiful lily ponds which are now in the hands of the National Trust. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path also passes through Bosherston, travelling to Poppit Sands in one direction and Amroth in the other.
The village is also popular because of the chapel dedicated to St Govan, which stands nearby. No one is sure who Govan was, but he could have been one of King Arthur's knights, Sir Gawaine, a hermit who lived on the beach, or Govan might not have been a man at all, but St Cofen, the wife of a 6th century Welsh prince. The chapel dates back to the 13th century and can only be reached by climbing down 52 steep steps. Inside there is a stone altar which is believed to be St Govan's grave. When pirates in the area were searching for him, it is said that Govan used to hide behind the stone, but it must have been a small space, as the marks from his ribs are still engraved on the stone.
