Established over 25 years ago as a Kayak and Canoe School and Provider of Adventure Activities to a wide range of people from all walks of life and of all ages and abilities as individuals, families and groups. Situated on the banks of the River Severn in Shrewsbury close to the outstanding Shropshire Countryside. We are the original paddlesport specialists along the Severn and way beyond. Our Staff are highly experienced and dedicated, all holding the relevant NGB qualifications in their chosen sport. They have been at the forefront of paddle sport in the UK and have a wide experience of paddling in different countries around the world. Drummond Outdoor are licensed by Adventure Activities Licensing Authority. Training Programmes: Our Kayak and Canoe training programmes run alongside The British Canoe Union Star tests. You can use these courses for improving your personal performance and measuring your ability against a recognised criteria. Star Tests are pre-requisites towards coaching qualifications. BCU Performance Awards:- One Star. Flat water award reflecting basic boat control in any type of boat - Two Star. Flat water award covering a range of kayak and canoe skills. This award represents fundamental paddlesport skills and understanding of paddle, boat, water interaction - Three Star. Boat/environment specific award reflecting personal competence as follows: Whitewater kayak, Paddling moving water up to grade 2 as part of a led group, Open Canoe, Paddling open water in moderate conditions and on simple moving water as part of a led group, Touring Paddling open water and ungraded rivers as part of a led group. - Four Star Leader. This award comprises distinct training and assessment elements and demonstrates the ability to lead a group of 4 paddlers in appropriate locations, in up to moderate conditions. Whitewater kayak - Leading on river trips of up to grade 2-3 Open Canoe - Leading on river trips of up to grade 2 & on open water with winds up to force 4. ....
