A view of the bend in the River Conwy at Caerhun, Conwy County, North Wales. The picture is taken from the churchyard of Caerhun Church looking north. St Mary's Church is built on the site of the Roman Fort of Caerhun. This is reputedly the northern point of the Sarn Helen the Roman route through West Wales, connecting various Roman remains. From the Roman fort at Caerhun the Sarn Helen route heads along the edge of Snowdonia through Cwm Penamnen near Dolwyddelan, skirts Ffestiniog to Trawsfynydd (and Tomen y Mur), and continues to Dolgellau and Machynlleth.
