The site of the 50-acre (20.3ha) Roman legionary fortress of Isca, the permanent base of the Second Augustan Legion in Britain from about A.D. 75. Impressive remains of the fortress baths, amphitheatre, barracks, and fortress wall. Admission is free Opening Times: 01.04.09 - 31.10.09: Daily 09.30 -17.00 01.11.09 - 31.03.10: Monday to Saturday 09.30 - 17.00, Sunday 11.00 - 16.00 Further Information: The amphitheatre and barracks are open sites. Open sites are unstaffed and open to the public with no admission charge at all reasonable times, usually between 10.00 and 16.00 daily. ....
