The Museum in the Park is set in Stratford Park in the centre of Stroud, Gloucestershire. The Museum is housed in Grade II 17th century wool merchant's mansion. Objects and colourful displays celebrate the rich history and heritage of the Stroud District. The modern extension houses our temporary galleries and visitor facilities. Entrance is free but donations are welcome. We welcome families and children with something to offer visitors of all ages. Whether you are visiting the District or have lived here for many years, you are sure to find something that interests, inspires or amazes you. We also offer a small gift shop and cafe within the museum foyer. Collections: There are about 45,000 items in the collections. Most relate to the Stroud District. More than 5,000 objects are displayed at the Museum in the Park. They range from dinosaur bones to the world's first lawnmower and everything in between. The Museum is about more than just the objects. It is about the place and the people who made and used the things now on display. Some items may surprise you, many you will recognise, others may set you guessing! Learning: The Museum in the Park is committed to lifelong learning and offers inspirational learning opportunities for people of all ages. Pre-school children, families, childminders and carers, school children, students and adults can all enjoy exploring the displays, whether making an informal visit or as part of an organised educational group.
