Pen y Fan, 2,907 ft (886m) is located in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales, UK. It is the highest peak in Britain south of the Snowdonia mountains.| Several trails including the Beacons Way Walk meet at the summit of Pen y Fan. One of the most popular routes starts from the Storey Arms Centre on the A470. This is a relatively easy route involving a climb of some 1650ft (500m). Longer routes start from small parking areas at the head of narrow lanes to the north or from the Neuadd reservoir to the southeast (climb of some 2230ft). | To the north lies Allt Ddu at 1,844 ft, 562 m. To the east, the ridge drops steeply to the col connecting it to Cribyn 2,608ft, 795m. To the south west lies Corn Du, 2,864ft, 873m. From Corn Du, a gentle ridge descends south via the Neuadd reservoir towards Merthyr Tydfil. There are fine views fron the summit of Pen y Fan including Swansea Bay, the Gower Peninsular, the Black Mountains, and the Cambrian Mountains.
