A4086 Capel Curig Conwy_County Wales
Llynnau Mymbyr are two lakes located in Snowdonia,
Conwy County, North Wales. Regular travellers through Snowdonia, along
the A4086 via Capel Curig, will recognise the Lake..it is the one where
all the coaches and cars stop for the tourists to take pictures of both
the lake and the Snowdon Horseshoe.
Llynnau Mymbyr have a maximum depth of 30 feet and the lakes were used
for fly-fishing and sub-aqua courses in the 1960s. Today it is used for
canoe training by the nearby Plas y Brenin activity centre. The lake is
fed by the Afon Nantygwryd (or Nant-y-gwryd). On leaving Llynnau Mymbyr
the river joins the Afon Llugwy at Capel Curig on its journey through
Betws-y-Coed to the Conwy Valley.
