St Celynin’s Well is to be found in the southwest corner of Llangelynin churchyard high above the Conwy Valley, North Wales. The small rectangular pool sits within a dry stonewall enclosure. A stone slab provides a seat for the weary pilgrims. The Holy Well was renowned for its healing qualities for sick children. To this day desperate parents have been known to travel many miles to take the waters from Celynin’s Well. I knew of an American couple who travelled several thousand miles from Los Angeles on the west coast of the USA to seek a cure for their sick child. Close to the churchyard can be found the footings of an ancient inn that provided hospitality for those crossing the mountains in medieval times. Nearby can be found the remains of an early round hut, which it might be tempting to associate with St Celynin believed to have lived in the 6th century AD.....
