Insole Court is a Grade II* Victorian Mansion, set in ornamental gardens near Llandaff Cathedral. It grew between 1856 and 1910 in step with the growing fortune of its owners, The coal-owning Insole family. It's style owed much to the influence of William Burges, and the old dining room, with its frieze painted by Fred Weekes bears striking similarities to the Winter Smoking Room in Cardiff Castle. Today it is a thriving Community Centre owned by Cardiff Council. It is open on weekdays with welcome guides on duty from 2-4 pm Mon-Thurs, and 1-3 pm Fridays. ....
