In 2011 Swansea City Football Club gained promotion to the Premier League, and they now play the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. The club has a remarkable history with meteoric rises...and falls ...both in the old football League and the modern pyramid system. But none was more remarkable than the years following 1975 when they started in the basement (old division 4) and, under player manager John Toshak, they climbed the league, with successive promotions in 1978 and 1979 taking the club back into Division Two. In 1981, Swansea were promoted to the First Division finishing in a remarkable sixth place in 1982.
Swansea City FC now play at the impressive Liberty Stadium and as I write this in November 2011 they stand half way in the Premier on 11 points and are awaiting the arrival of Manchester United for their next match!....
