The 2011 National Eisteddfod of Wales, the Wrexham and District National Eisteddfod, will be held in the town of Wrexham on the 30 July – 6 August 2011. The National Eisteddfod of Wales can be traced back to the 12th Century when it is said that the first Eisteddfod was held under the auspices of the Lord Rhys. A grand gathering was held in Cardigan to which were invited poets and musicians from all over Wales. A chair at the Lord's table was awarded to the best poet and musician, a tradition that prevails to this day.

Music, dance, visual arts, family activities – there’s something for everyone at the Wrexham National Eisteddfod, and with over 160,000 visitors every year, it’s a great place to meet up with old friends – and make new ones.

The Eisteddfod is held on the ‘Maes’, and the Pavilion is the focal point of the official competing and cultural ceremonies, but hundreds of activities take place all over the Maes throughout the week.
