Thresholds Centre offers a diverse range of activities from Easter to November with professionally qualified staff. These range from crafts and creative writing to local history and geology, landscape appreciation, talks and walks, guided tours, exhibitions and displays about the area, drama and murder mystery events. Activities can be planned and hosted for school groups, art clubs, WI outings and many more. Thresholds is situated on a northern outlier of the Long Mynd at the head of the Upper Onny valley in the heart of the secret hills of South Shropshire which is part of Shropshire Hills AONB. Thresholds is adjacent to The Shropshire Way and within a short distance of Wild Edric's Way. The wonderful scenery can be viewed from the many footpaths with Thresholds offering you a place to park your car and details of suitable walks. The house and buildings have a history of development over several centuries. The Stable Block contains seven Shire Horse stalls, one of the few places in Shropshire where these are still in their original condition. The area is often associated with the writer Mary Webb and Thresholds Farmhouse features in several of Mary Webb's works.Thresholds is considered by many to be the centre of Mary Webb Country. Our displays about the local landscape include information about her poems and novels in addition to the countryside which inspired her. Thresholds is easily accessible by road, and is adjacent to the ancient drovers' roads across the Long Mynd which offer excellent walking, cycling or horse riding. Features in the surrounding landscape include Bronze and Iron Age 'hill forts', lost villages and Industrial Archaeology of barytes and copper mining. The area is steeped in Folklore.
