Hotel in Marchwiel, Wrexham County
Wales

This relaxed, friendly country-house hotel is set in 6.5 acres of beautiful mature gardens. It is ideally located for Llangollen, Wrexham, Chester, Erddig Hall and Chirk Castle.
Cross Lanes has en suite rooms with free Wi-Fi, and is ideal for visiting the spectacular Welsh hills and castles and gardens of North Wales and Chester. First-class golf and fishing are close by.
The Lanes Bar and Restaurant has a relaxed, informal atmosphere and serves freshly cooked dishes created with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. It has held an AA Rosette for 12 consecutive years.
Cross Lanes was originally built as a private house during the reign of Queen Victoria and was converted to a hotel in 1959. The Victorian features and homely feeling have been carefully preserved to this day. In addition, the superb oak panelling in the front hall, older than the original house, dates back to the Jacobean period (circa. 1618). It was rescued from Emral Hall in Worthenbury and carefully restored at Cross Lanes.
All bedrooms are tastefully decorated with elegant furnishings and luxurious fabrics to create a distinct style which is in keeping with the character of the hotel. Rooms are equipped with every modern day convenience to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.
This is a truly privileged location – within a short drive you can lose yourself in the Welsh hills, be fascinated by the Roman remains in Chester, or view the rich historical past within Wrexham. You can visit Erddig, a late 17th century country house, or perhaps Chirk Castle, a magnificent marcher fortress completed in 1310 and now a stately home.
Something for the children comes in the way of Farmworld, a working 300-acre dairy farm set in beautiful countryside with an adventure park, cuddle corner feature and lots more. Chester Zoo is the ideal place for all the family to visit, with over 5000 animals and 500 species living amid the spacious, near natural surroundings.
