Dating from 1155, The Pied Bull is situated within the walls of the Roman city of Chester.
Reputed to be the city's first licensed house, today the inn's interior reflects its distinctive heritage and haunted past. Period features include an original handmade staircase dating from 1533. All rooms are comfortably furnished with en suite bathrooms and modern facilities.
Breakfast is served from 07:00 until 09:00, Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, breakfast is served from 08:00 until 09:00.
The bar is open from 10:00, 7 days a week.
Traditional pub fare is served from 11:00 till 21:00 from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, food is served from 11:00 till 18:00, with the added bonus of a traditional Sunday lunch, which is very popular with the locals.
Chester abounds with history. Why not visit Britain's oldest Roman amphitheatre or stroll around the famous city walls. Enjoy a lazy day along the river or try your luck at one of the regular summer race meetings held at the country's oldest race track.
By car:
- Leave the M56 at junction 15 (signposted Chester, Wrexham) then join the M53 motorway.
- Leave the M53 at junction 12, then at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A56, signposted Chester.
- At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Hoole Road (A56), signposted Chester.
- Enter Chester and turn right onto Black Diamond Street.
- Turn left onto St. Anne Street and at the traffic signals turn right onto St. Oswald's Way (A5268).
- At Northgate roundabout take the 2nd exit onto St. Martins Way (A5268), signposted North Wales.
- Turn left onto King Street then right onto Northgate Street where you will find the hotel.
