Situated in the beautiful Ceiriog Valley, this delightful 16th-century property has a wealth of charm and character. It boasts inglenook log fires and original timbered ceilings, all set off by period furnishings.
Over 400 years old, the period quality extends into the unique and spacious 4-star bedrooms. Some rooms are set in the oldest parts of the hotel, with views of the Berwyn Hills, whilst all have a private bathroom.
The restaurant has won multiple awards for the quality of its service and the creative menu. The kitchen’s fresh, seasonal produce includes Ceiriog trout and locally farmed Welsh Beef.
Local real ales are stocked in the relaxed Lounge Bar, which also features a large fireplace and an antique confessional.
The Cornwallis Suite, with a capacity of 60 people, is available for conferences and affords a wonderful view of the Berwyn Hills beyond.
The Bellingham is a private dining room which is perfect for small numbers and accommodates up to 6 people in comfort. In addition the main dining room caters for 30.
For larger numbers (up to 250), you can use the marquee in the garden alongside the Ceiriog River.
The West Arms Hotel is also an ideal venue for special occasions such as anniversary parties, christening parties, birthdays and other such memorable days. The chef can create menus to suit your special occasion, and budget.

Award winning chef Grant Williams has worked in kitchens around the world, as far afield as New Zealand. He has appeared on several TV cookery programs, and is due to appear on Britain's Best Dish. He has even cooked for HRH Prince Charles.
Grant has won many accolades for The West Arms, amongst them two AA rosettes, Three RAC Dining Awards, Good Food Guide, Which Magazine, 3 Star Welsh Tourist Board and many others.
A bar menu is available lunchtimes and evenings providing substantial meals plus black board specials.
In addition to the many castles and places of historic interest which abound the area, the valley offers many activities and pursuits, such as walking, mountain biking, pony trekking, golfing, fishing, heritage trails, canoeing/rafting, climbing/abseiling and canal trips.
By Car:
- Take the the main A5 trunk road.
- Exit at Chirk (midway between Oswestry and Llangollen).
- Follow the B4500 along the Ceiriog Valley for 11 miles.
