St Anthony’s Lodge
STROUD Gloucestershire, Tel : 01282 847332
St Anthony’s Lodge, a delightful detached Cotswold stone property of the late 1800s, is situated close to the peaceful convent grounds of the Sisters of the Poor Clares in Woodchester. With excellent access from the motorway networks and just off the A46 near Stroud it makes it an ideal holiday base from which to explore the Georgian city of Bath or the Regency town of Cheltenham, both of which have a wealth of fine shops, restaurants and theatres. Alternatively spend an afternoon in the nearby small town of Nailsworth with its individual shops and restaurants.
Set in the South Cotswolds, St Anthony’s Lodge is the perfect location from which to explore the many interesting villages including Minchinhampton and Amberley, close to Rodborough Common, and further to the north the charming hillside village of Chalford and nearby Bisley set within an AONB. Take a stroll in the grounds of Woodchester Mansion with its woodland walks, five beautiful lakes and grounds home to wildlife and rare breeds, or perhaps visit Westonbirt Arboretum, particularly in the autumn with the many changing glorious colours of the trees. Slimbridge Wildlife Park is just 5 miles away, and is home to an astounding array of wildlife - a year-round programme of walks, events, workshops, talks and spectacular wildlife encounters are a fantastic way for everyone to connect to their natural surroundings. Highgrove House, the country home of Prince Charles, is located just outside nearby Tetbury; the town itself is renowned for its many antique shops. The Badminton Horse Trials take place in May each year in the park of Badminton House, which is only approximately 15 miles away. For the more active, there are many watersports activities at the Cotswold Water Park just outside the Roman town of Cirencester, or guests can walk the whole of the Cotwsolds Way from the doorstep. Shops 2 miles and pubs ½ mile.
