The Old Post Office
HEREFORD (HERR-ER-FURD) Monmouthshire, Tel : 01282 847332
Situated within the heart of Skenfrith directly opposite the castle and lying along part of The Three Castles’ Walk, the property is approximately 200 years old and, as its name suggests, was the old Post Office, tea room and bakery in its day. One of a pair, it now offers characterful, cosy accommodation with an open fire, wood-burning stove and extras for adults and children alike, with a pool table as well as table tennis. There is plenty to see and do in the area for a perfect holiday. It lies within 100 yards of the site of the River Monnow - listed as one of the top places to swim in rivers in the UK, close to the Black Mountains, Skirrid, and the Golden Valley. Offas Dyke Path, the Black and White Trail and the Forest of Dean make for some great walking. Other activities such as cycling, with cycle paths locally, canoeing and fishing on the River Wye, horse riding and golfing will all be found within the surrounding areas, or explore the wealth of countryside. Symonds Yat amusement park is nearby - activities include boat rides, fair, picnicking and amusements. The Old Post Office is within 200 yards of an award winning pub/restaurant and within easy driving distance of the market towns of Monmouth, Abergavenny, Hereford and Ross-on-Wye, all offering great eateries, tea rooms and shopping. Hay-on-Wye, famous for its wealth of bookshops is one hour away. Bristol is an hour away, and Cardiff at 45 minutes - making for a great day out. Shops 2 miles, pub 110 yards.
