Clynnog, Anglesey. Anglesey, Wales Tel : 01282 847332
Just 5 minutes from the beach and Newborough Forest, this large detached barn conversion is an ideal holiday location to get away from it all. With four large bedrooms, it sleeps six people and boasts a large open-plan living area, with wooden trusses spanning the roof, which gives the property lots of character. A large garden to the rear with patio offers impressive views across the Menai Straits to the mountains of Snowdonia, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink or meal in the evening. Anglesey has wonderful beaches, with watersports at Rhosneigr and Trearddur Bay. Attractive Beaumaris has shops, restaurants, pubs and a Victorian pier, not to mention the beautiful castle built by King Edward I. The castle affords wonderful views across the Menai Straight to the Snowdonian mountains beyond, which can be savoured from both inside and out. It has been designated a World Heritage Site due to the fact that it represents a significant accomplishment in the art of medieval castle-building. The little chapel situated within a tower is worth a visit and is home to a display on the the castles of Edward I in Wales. Other places of interest to visit in Beaumaris include the courthouse, gaol and the Museum of Childhood Memories – of interest to adults and children alike with over two thousand toys on display. From the pier there are trips around privately-owned Puffin Island, which has Special Protection Area status due to its large colonies of birds including cormorants, guillemot, razorbill, kittiwake, common eider and puffins. Other places to visit include Anglesey Sea Zoo which will keep children amused, as will the Great Little Trains of Wales. Snowdonia National Park offers walking and climbing for all levels. Further afield is the Italianate village of Portmeirion, which was known as the ‘Village’ in the 1960s TV series The Prisoner. Here an eclectic collection of previously endangered buildings such as a Jacobean town hall, a campanile, pantheon vie for attention, all built round a Mediterranean piazza. Shops and pubs 1½ miles.
Large, open-plan living/dining room with patio doors and wooden floor. Well-equipped kitchen area with tiled floor. Two double bedrooms, each with door to courtyard; one with en-suite shower room and toilet. Two single bedrooms, one with door to courtyard. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.
