A charming, cosy two bedroom cottage with many original features and a secluded patio overlooking the river.. This property is situated in the beautiful town of Llangollen and is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. The cottage is a comfortable retreat in which to relax and unwind as well as providing an ideal base from which to explore the town’s attractions, the local area and the beauty of north Wales. Church Street is one of the oldest streets in Llangollen and until the 19th Century was the main road from London to Holyhead. In 1815 Thomas Telford began his construction of the new A5 taking all the traffic away from Church Street. The street’s name comes from the Church of Saint Collen and the original church was founded by the Saint in the late 16th Century. Collen was an Irish warrior and religious figure who lived for a time as a hermit on Glastonbury Tor. The church has been altered and rebuilt over the years, the amazing carved oak ceiling dates from the 15th Century. This charming property has been sympathetically renovated maintaining original features such as beams and wattle and daub walls wherever possible. It dates back to 1695 and was once one of the Quaker meeting rooms. It is situated on the banks of the River Dee overlooking Castell Dinas Bran and is well equipped with added luxuries such as TVs in all the bedrooms and free Wi-Fi. Number 23 has a wealth of exposed beams, original slate floor and a wood burning stove giving a homely charm to the living area. The conservatory which houses the kitchen diner opens up onto the split level patio which has a dining area and a raised decking area over the river enjoying a super view of the castle. The main bedroom has a comfortable double bed while the smaller back bedroom has a 4ft bed. There is a shower room serving both bedrooms.Church Street 23 can be booked together with Church Street 9 (CC614028) and Church Street 21 (CC614029) to accommodate up to 11 guests.
