This almost 100 strong Welsh male voice choir has been established since 1960 in South Wales, when it was originally named the Bridgend Police Choir. In 2010, the Choir celebrated its 50th Birthday. The Golden Celebrations got off to an excellent start when the Choir was awarded a Citizenship Award from the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough Council for 50 years of fundraising, generating in the region of £1M for charity and for being ambassadors for Bridgend.
The Choir has a long history of competition successes, and can claim to be the only Welsh choir to have scored a remarkable double victory at the 1991 Concorso Internazionale Di Canto Corale, held in Verona. A further invitation to the festival in April 2003 resulted in an award of another silver cup, for the quality of the Choir's male voice singing.
The Bridgend Male Choir are also extremely proud that in the Welsh National Eisteddfod in Newport in 2004 they won first prize, and were presented with the Welsh Fusiliers Cup; an achievement that they repeated in 2006!
