St Dogmaels sits across the Teifi estuary from Cardigan in South West Wales. The village lies on the Carmarthenshire / Pembrokeshire border and offers a wide choice of attractions. The historic town of Cardigan lies a mile to the east, while the sands of the Teifi estuary, including Poppit Sands, lie just a mile to the north. Long distance walkers, and those who just like a stroll will appreciate the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path that starts in the village of St Dogmael's.

An abbey was founded here circa 1115 by Robert fitz Martin and his wife Maud Peverel. The abbey was well known and accommodated both Giraldus (Gerald of Wales) and Archbishop Baldwin when they came to St Dogmael's preaching the crusade. The abbey's romantic ruins can still be seen today and every year during the summer months, Shakespearean plays are performed here. Previous performances have included 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Henry IV Part 1 and 2.'
