Brynmawr is a market town situated in the county of Blaenau Gwent, South Wales. It is bordered by Nantyglo to the south, Beaufort to the west, Llanelly to the east and Llangatwg Mountain to the north. Nearby towns and villages include Ebbw Vale, Rassau, Tredegar, Rhymney, Sirhowy, Princetown, Beaufort, Clydach, Gilwern, Abergavenny and Blaina. The town is considered by some to be the highest in Wales, situated 1,250 to 1,500 above sea level.
In the Market Hall, there is a cinema showing the latest box office films, as well as a theatre which hosts productions from local societies. There is also a leisure centre in the west end of the town.
For nature lovers there is the 22 hectar Parc Nant y Waun nature reserve, which is home to an abundance of wildlife. It also has an Angling Club and a picnic area where visitors can relax and watch the wildlife in their natural habitat.
