Abertysswg can be found in the county of Caerphilly, South Wales. The village is bordered by Tredegar and Rhymney to the north, Pontllottyn and Merthyr Tydfil to the west, Cwm to the east and Phillipstown to the south.
Abertysswg built up around the coal industry, although mining did not begin in the village until 1895-1900. With the first shaft being sunk in 1897, Abertysswg saw decades of prosperity until the mine was closed in 1969.
Today the village is a quiet and peaceful place in the heart of rural Caerphilly. In the centre of Abertysswg visitors can find a number of pubs and clubs, a post office, takeaway and village shop.
