Tythegston is located close to the historic village of Laleston in Bridgend county, South Wales. It is 3.5km south of the M4 motorway which has easy access to Cardiff, Swansea and of course, Bridgend. It is close to Ogmore by Sea, where the Ogmore river enters into the sea.
Candleston castle can be found 3km south east of Tythegston. A manor house was built here during the 14th century by the de Cantelupe family, which the name Candleston is believed to have derived from. Although the grounds became engulfed by sand dunes later on, the building was occupied until the 19th century. Features worth noting include a grand tower, and a solar complete with large windows, a fireplace and a latrine. ....
