Strata Florida is a hamlet in Ceredigion, Wales. The settlement is situated to the south east of Pontrhydfendigaid and to the south west of Waun Claerddu. Strata Florida is famed for the Cistercian Abbey which was founded in 1164 and is the burial place of many Princes of Ceredigion and Deheubarth (formerly in South West Wales), as well as the Welsh bard Dafydd ap Gwilym.
The abbey is now in the hands of Cadw, the Welsh Heritage authority, and the ruins are a popular tourist attraction. ....
