Pyle can be found north of Porthcawl, Bridgend County, on the south western corner of Wales. The M4 passes close by the southern part of the village, giving easy access to Bridgend, Cardiff and Swansea.
Kenfig Castle is situated 2.5km to the west of Pyle, along the Kenfig sand dunes. A 12th century fortification, the castle was established by Robert, earl of Gloucester and was used as an administrative centre. In the 12th and 13th centuries Kenfig castle was often invaded by the Welsh, but from the 13th century onwards it was sadly engulfed by the Kenfig sand dunes and began to decay. ....
