Pontllyfni sits between Caernarfon and Aberdesach on the northern coast of Gwynedd in North West Wales. The Afon Llyfni runs into the Irish Sea here, from its source at Llyn Nantlle Uchaf, whilst just over a kilometre north the Afon Llifon runs into the sea beside Maes Mawr. Walkers will appreciate the many trails in the area of Pontllyfni.
Indeed the Llyn Coastal Path rejoins the northern coastline of the Llyn Peninsula within the village. Away from the coast, the 509m Bwlch Mawr Mountain is easily found by following the A499 road south east towards Clynnog Fawr. Attractions found in the area include an ancient burial chamber 2km south of Pontllyfni, the leisure centre at nearby village Penygroes 5km away, and the Glynllifon Country Park 3.8km north east of Pontllyfni, just outside Llandwrog.....
