Ogmore Vale is situated in the heart of Bridgend County, South Wales. As its name suggests Ogmore Vale sits in a valley between the hills of Mynydd Llangeinwyr and Mynydd yr Aber, with the woodlands of the Ogmore Forest to the south east. Pontycymer can be found to the west, whilst the towns and villages of Lewistown, Treorchy, Mountain Ash, Clydach, Treherbert and Pontypridd are all close by.
The Ogwr Fawr (Upper Ogmore River) river flows through Ogmore Vale before meeting the Garw at Brynmenyn. From 1865 to 1983, when the last colliery closed, the coal mines were the main sources of employment. If you should visit the Welsh National Folk Museum in St Fagans you might get a hint of life in Ogmore Vale in bygone days. ....
