Marcross sits near Llantwit Major on the south coast of Wales, in the Vale of Glamorgan. Marcross lies between the beautiful Glamorgan Heritage Coast and the rolling countryside of the Vale. The Millennium Heritage Trail wends its way through Marcross en route from Monknash and St Donats, and on to Llantwit Major, passing the rocky shore and rugged clifftop scenery at Nash Point.
Tragedy struck the hamlet in 1831 after a shipwreck left eighty people dead. In memory of the victims a lighthouse was erected on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Two lighthouses currently stand in Marcross, but only one is used. ....
