Llanfair Talhaiarn sits on the banks of the River Elwy some 5 miles from Abergele in Conwy County, North Wales. For the English tongue the name is often shortened to Llanfair TH. Among the Welsh people the town is probably best known as the birthplace of the poet John Jones or to give him his bardic name John Jones "Talhaiarn", a man described as the "Welsh Burns" ... a man of the soil who found his inspiration in nature.
The parish church of St Mary's, a twin-naved church situated above the village, takes its name from the Welsh "Llan" or Church, and "Fair" Mary, but few remember the reason for its old name "Iron Brow". Some say Talhaiarn, or Iron Brow, was the name of a famous chief or bard. ....
