Llanfair Caereinion is situated in Powys, Mid Wales. The charming little Welsh Victorian town, lies nestled in the heart of Montgomeryshire, on the A458 between Welshpool and Mallwyd. Llanfair Caereinion is in a prime location at the centre of Wales, and not without its natural beauty and breathtaking countryside.
It is difficult to believe that in 1758, a great fire rushed throughout Llanfair Caereinion, destroying many houses and buildings in its path. It has certainly restored itself since, with the impressive Victorian styled buildings and its grand attraction, the Welshpool Light Railway, an eight mile long railway journey which runs through Llanfair Caereinion and onwards in the Banwy Valley. It is a splendid attraction for all, disappearing underneath the canopy of trees and spotting the odd deer and rabbit amongst Wales's rural countryside. As for other attractions and facilities, there are plenty of shops, cafes, and public houses to be found in the town centre. Accommodation includes mostly self catering cottages and bed and breakfasts, although there are a number of hotels in nearby Newtown and Welshpool.....
