Llanarthney can be found 7 miles, 12km, to the east of Carmarthen in the county of Carmarthenshire, South Wales. It sits on the banks of the River Gwynon and just south of the river Towy, the longest river flowing entirely through Wales. The Towy is popular with anglers for its excellent salmon and trout fishing.
Situated in Llanarthney is the National Botanic Garden of Wales, which attracts many visitors throughout the year.
