Dale is situated on the south eastern tip of Pembrokeshire in south west Wales. In the past the village was quite a bustling place with eighteen pubs, but parts of Dale, including the village hall, now lie under the sea.
The village is close to Mill Bay, where Henry Tudor landed in 1485 in preparation for the Battle of Bosworth. He soon met Rhys ap Thomas, who had told Richard III that none of his enemies could ever invade England without stepping over Rhys's body. Rhys managed to bend the rules a little, as he lay on the ground and made Henry Tudor step over him. Henry then went on to become King Henry VII and begin the famous Tudor dynasty.
