The village of Abergynolwyn is to be found in the valley of the Afon Dysynni in South Gwynedd, Mid Wales. Located in the shadow of Cadair Idris between the beautiful Lake Talyllyn and the coastal town of Tywyn it is an ideal location for a peaceful holiday. The village has a pub / restaurant, a community cafe, a railway station, ..a pub, cafe, railway station... yes thats about all there is. But who needs more in such a beautiful location. If mountain trails, walking, cycle routes, are your thing then you will love Abergynolwyn. The village is also popular with steam train enthusiasts, being a terminus for the Tal-y-Llyn light railway. The station is actually some 3/4 mile from the village, just far enough to develop a thirst that may be quenched in the Railway Inn. I can thoroughly recommend the pub as we enjoyed a delicious meal and good beer when we visited in 2007. I can also recommend the circular walk from Abergynolwyn through the beautiful Dysynni Valley and returning via Castell-y-Bere, and Llanfihangel-y-Pennant. What a walk.. a beautiful hidden valley, a medieval castle, an ancient church and some really good Welsh words to try and get your tongue round!
