The village of Llangurig sits on the banks of the River Wye between Rhayader and Llanidloes in Powys, Mid Wales. It is believed to be the highest village in Wales, with an altitude of 1000 feet, and is surrounded by charming scenery and backed by the rolling hills of the Plumlumon range. And surprisingly the euphemistically described rolling hills do nothing to deter the many cyclists and walkers who take either the Wales Cycle Route, Lon Las Cymru, or the Wye Valley Walk that winds its way through Llangurig on its long journey through both Wales and England to the mouth of the Wye on the Bristol Channel.

Should you be travelling from north to south Wales on the A470 then a short diversion, no more than a few hundred yards at the junction with the A44, brings you to the delightful little village. | The original Llangurig Parish Church dated back to circa 550 AD, and was founded either by St Curig himself or in commemoration of the Saint.
