The Llanfaethlu standing stone is a large stone standing adjacent to the A5025 road in Soar close to the village of Llanfaethlu, North West Anglesey. At 3.1m high, and 1.7m wide and 0.4m thick the stone is thought to be a prehistoric ritual monument, possibly Bronze Age. Although the stone is highly visible to visitors to the north of Anglesey it is less so to the locals. I was talking to two gentlemen in the Cefn Glas pub in Llanfechell who had driven past the stone on the way to their workplace for many years (55 years between them) and neither Richard nor Elfyd could remember the stone. Although both men knew of the Black Lion pub, a few hundred yards from the stone!
