Harold Godfrey Lowe is laid to rest in the church yard of Llandrillo-yn-Rhos Church in Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
Harold Lowe was born in Llanrhos, Conwy, North Wales on 21 November
1882, the third of eight children, born to George and Harriet Lowe. He
later moved to Barmouth on the West Wales coast where he developed his
love of the sea.
Harold Godfrey Lowe, 5th Officer of the Titanic, left
Barmouth aged 14 to go to sea. He played a heroic role in the rescue of
survivors during the sinking of RMS Titanic on 15th April 1912, in fact
he was the only officer to return to rescue survivors of the disaster.
Mr Lowe retired to live close to the town of his birth and lived his last days in Deganwy, North Wales.
He died of hypertension on 12 May 1944 at the age of 61.
His grave, pictured here, is in the graveyard of Llandrillo-yn-Rhos Church in Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy County, North Wales.
Officer Lowe was portrayed by Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd in the 1997 blockbuster movie Titanic.
