Burry Port can be found in the south west of Wales, between Tenby and Swansea. Although its neighbour Pembrey is older, Burry Port is the most famous of the two, due to its development as a small coal-port in the Industrial Revolution.
Not only did the town make its name in the coal industry, but it also has a place in plane history. In June 1928, Miss Amelia Earheart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, after she landed in Burry Port following a twenty two hour flight from Newfoundland.
